At Metstrade 2025, Opac is presenting a series of developments that integrate lighting into its covers, turning light into a functional and design-driven element. The Turin-based company, active in the design and production of soft-tops, hard-tops and shading systems for yachts, is unveiling in Amsterdam an extended range that includes illuminated soft-tops, a new articulated awning and louvred hard-tops equipped with integrated lighting.

According to CEO Luca Sacco, this year’s innovations follow a clear approach based on integration: design, lighting and technology are combined to enhance onboard comfort and usability, with solutions conceived to align with the yacht’s styling.

Soft-tops with integrated lighting

Opac’s soft-tops, made with high-performance technical fabrics and designed to offer protection and lightness, are now available in a version featuring LED strips embedded in the top structure. The light sources, positioned along the bows and invisible when switched off, illuminate an area that is often challenging from a lighting perspective. Intensity and colour temperature can be adjusted and integrated with the yacht’s electrical system and lighting plan.

Articulated awning with LEDs in the front rail and arms

The Rolling Sun Awning is presented in a configuration designed for lighting integration. Fully electric, the system retracts fabric and arms into a dedicated compartment when not in use. The model on display features a mobile front rail fitted with LED lighting and allows the addition of LED strips or spotlights in the arms for uniform, customisable illumination during evening hours.

Louvred hard-top with customisable lighting systems

The hard-top with adjustable louvres is offered with a dedicated lighting system, enabling the use of the areas below even when the louvres are closed. Available options include LED spotlights integrated into the ceiling and LED strips positioned between the louvres—hidden when off and capable of producing a diffused lighting effect when on. Owners can choose the number and placement of lighting points, as well as regulate intensity and colour temperature, directing the beam by adjusting the louvre opening angle.

Carbon poles for shading systems

Opac is also showcasing its carbon poles for shading systems, lightweight and rigid supports that can be customised in length and supplied in a modular version for easier storage. Installation is available in standard deck-cup mounts or in flush-deck versions that avoid structural recesses while ensuring equivalent stability. At Metstrade, Opac introduces an updated mounting system that combines practicality and clean aesthetics, along with new larger diameters designed for superyachts, megayachts and gigayachts. A dedicated lighting solution for the poles is also under development, in line with the evolution of the range.
